OMAS Ensemble is een nieuw gevormd “broken consort” bestaande uit blokfluit, altviool, viola da gamba en violone. Alle leden studeren aan het HKU Utrechts Conservatorium en delen een grote passie voor de uitvoering van oude muziek.

In dit concert presenteren we een selectie kamermuziek uit de late renaissance en vroege barok van componisten zoals Gabrieli, Rossi, Riccio, Castello, Locke en Rosenmüller. Het programma verkent de kleurrijke klankwereld van de zestiende en zeventiende eeuw met een gemengd consort van blaas- en strijkinstrumenten.

Met deze bijzondere combinatie van instrumenten willen we de rijke klankkleuren en de muzikale dialoog tussen de verschillende stemmen van het ensemble laten horen, en zo de expressieve echo’s en fantasierijke contrapuntische structuren van deze muziek tot leven brengen.

OMAS Ensemble is a newly formed broken consort consisting of recorder, viola, viola da gamba, and violone. All members are students at the HKU Utrechts Conservatorium and share a strong enthusiasm for early music performance.

In this concert, we present a selection of chamber music from the late Renaissance and early Baroque by composers such as Gabrieli, Rossi, Riccio, Castello, Locke, and Rosenmüller. The programme explores the colourful sound world of the sixteenth and seventeenth century through a mixed consort of wind and string instruments.

With this unique combination of instruments, we aim to highlight the rich timbres and dialogue between the different voices of the ensemble, bringing both expressive echoes and imaginative contrapuntal textures to the audience.
