Urgent advice: wear a mouth mask in our buildings
From now on, it is urgently advised to wear a mouth mask in the HKU buildings. This advice applies to all public indoor spaces, such as the corridors and canteens, where people stand and walk around. This advice does not apply to all rooms that are arranged in accordance with the corona regulations, such as lecture halls, classrooms, study areas or office spaces. But everyone is of course free to wear a mouth mask in those areas as well. In some workspaces the use of a mask is desirable. This is indicated at the entrance.
In recent weeks, we have noticed in our buildings that it is sometimes difficult, especially during changes of classrooms, to constantly maintain a distance of 1.5 meters in the corridors and public areas. This is an important reason for HKU to follow the national guidelines for a mouth mask advice. Furthermore, the known measures of the RIVM in our buildings remain in full force. Keep 1.5 metres distance, wash your hands regularly and follow the instructions. We cordially invite everyone to friendly address each other about this when necessary.
