Welcome to the Broad Preparatory Course

Are you thinking about doing creative studies, but aren’t quite sure which direction to take? And would you like to put together a portfolio before applying for a Bachelor’s course at an art academy? Then the Broad Preparatory Course is the course for you.

In brief

  • Helps you choose the right arts course
  • Prepares you for the entrance exam of a Bachelor’s course
  • From September to April
  • Classes from 10.00 to 15.15 on 27 Saturdays
  • Study load of an average of 6 to 8 hours a week (including homework)

How do you know the Broad Preparatory Course is right for you?

Maybe you have a sketchbook full of drawings, you’re always painting on anything you can find, you’re good at designing skateboards, you take really good Instagram photos or spend all your time designing games or apps. What’s important is that you have an original view of the world and can interpret that view in interesting images and ideas. On the Broad Preparatory Course, you develop your artistic and creative qualities, while discovering what you do best.

Get to know the profession

The Broad Preparatory Course is an introductory course that prepares you for admission to one of the following schools: HKU Fine Art, HKU Design, HKU Media and HKU Games and Interaction. In classes, projects and workshops, you learn about these professional fields. You create work and discover what’s involved in the various Bachelor’s courses and whether they suit you.
