On Thursday 29 January 2026, third-year HKU Musician 3.0 students will conclude their residency at Bibliotheek Utrecht with a performance. Over the course of two weeks, they immersed themselves in the library: observing, speaking with visitors, and allowing themselves to be influenced by the many stories that converge there.

In their artistic research, the library takes centre stage as a meeting place. How welcome does ‘everyone’ truly feel in this public space? Does neutrality exist, or is a place always creating a bias? And where does the boundary lie between art that connects and art that creates distance?

Under the Influence plays with contrasts such as silence and sound, calm and stimulation, visibility and going unnoticed. The performance does not offer answers, but invites visitors to experience the library anew: as a place where different perspectives can exist side by side.
