Lab Pastoe

As the name suggests, Lab Pastoe is situated in Pastoe Fabriek. In this new workspace you can experiment with materials and crossovers between techniques. Explore all the possibilities!

About Lab Pastoe

There are innumerable techniques you can use. What if you give them your own twist, by combining techniques or trying out new materials, for example? Find out in Lab Pastoe. You can try out things on a small scale:

  • Textile processing
  • Silkscreen printing
  • Riso printing
  • Inkjet printing
  • Laser cutting
  • Graphics
  • Electronics
  • 3D printing
  • 3D scanning
  • Developing biomaterials

(Almost) nothing is too crazy an idea!

Our staff encourage experimentation and research. The craziest things go on at Lab Pastoe. They advise you on production processes, materials and tools. And, where necessary, they will refer you to other HKU workspaces. Together with students and lecturers, Lab Pastoe is working on an extensive collection of materials, processes and recipes for the material archive.

Graphics

Lab Pastoe used to be called the Graphics workspace. You can still experiment there with various printing techniques, such as linocuts and woodcuts. Plus monotype and (photographic) etching, for example.
