Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship in relation to creative creative processes is one of the research areas of HKU, focusing on questions about economics and culture.

What we do

HKU dares to move beyond the traditional boundaries of its own disciplines to other contexts. In so doing, we ensure that our professional practice remains relevant. The entrepreneurship research area helps us to interpret this vision and to bring innovation to creative professional practice. Entrepreneurship spans creative industry, art and culture management, and cultural entrepreneurship.

HKU has the space HKU X. This is an entrepreneurial learning environment for students and alumni who want to take their company, project or idea further. Participants receive business advice and support with financing applications, follow master classes, meet successful creative entrepreneurs and work together on their development as professionals.

What we create

Projects

The feasibility studies carried out by HKU alumni and senior researchers as part of the SIA Taskforce’s Take-Off scheme help to show the form that cultural entrepreneurship could take. For example, the wheelchair bench by Ongeremd has recently been tested at festivals and market research has been conducted into an app that provides better communication about waiting lists in mental health care.
