Artistic research residencies

Within the Neuroinclusive Arts Education practice of the Critical Creative Pedagogies professorship, two artistic research residencies began in August 2025 on the theme of neurodivergence.

An artistic research residency invites an artist or creative practitioner to temporarily take up a workspace outside their familiar environment. This offers them the opportunity to conduct research, create new work, or prepare exhibitions.

Artistic research into neurodivergence

Between August 2025 and April 2026, two makers – HKU alumni Tess Jones and Renske Tiemersma – will carry out artistic research into neurodivergence, including autism.

Studying with autism

The work produced during the residencies will form part of the outcomes of the Let's Eat project on ‘studying with autism’. The ambition is to exhibit it, among other things, during Autism Week 2026 (29 March – 5 April 2026).
