Inaugural Lecture - Fabiola Camuti

Fabiola Camuti launched the HKU professorship Critical Creative Pedagogies in January 2025 with her Inaugural Lecture. In this publication, presented in the form of a zine, Fabiola shares her vision on research into arts education practices and discusses the activities of the professorship.

How and what must we learn to enable ourselves as creators, designers and performers, to make a meaningful contribution to the current challenges for society? This is the central question in the professorship Critical Creative Pedagogies.

In this zine, lector Fabiola Camuti is presenting her vision on research into art-education practices and explains her plans for the years to come. The professorship is structured around three interconnected research lines, each aligned with HKU’s focus areas: The Arts of Sustainability &Circularity, The Arts of Healthcare & Wellbeing and The Arts of Identity & Inclusion.

Important definitions are unlearning and care. In her lecture, Fabiola explains how arts education can play a role in achieving a more inclusive and caring educational practice.
