Dieuwke says about her work: When something passes, it’s actually already gone. My paintings stem from a fascination for the fleeting nature of time. I work with soft forms, where the absence of sharp lines adds space to breathe to the image – as if the moment continues to exhale gently. I depict things we all recognise, yet are never quite the same: lights on the motorway, the glow of evening, a place and time that keeps returning but is never entirely identical. In my work, I want to make tangible how the ordinary slips away – and how much beauty lies in that which vanishes."

The Dooyewaard Foundation offers a special stimulus for your artists by rewarding the Dooyewaard Stipendium Award to young talent each year. The award is handed out after a thorough selection, during the graduation expo of the Fine Art course at HKU University of the Arts Utrecht. Dieuwke’s work and that of other graduates was on display during Exposure 2025 from 25 to 29 June.
