HKU students recreate Sol LeWitt
The Joods (‘Jewish’) Museum in Amsterdam is presenting the work of modern artist Sol LeWitt from 30 October onward. For this expo, several HKU students will create multiple metres-high wall drawings. LeWitt was one of the founders of the conceptual art movement: the notion that an idea in itself can be art.

LeWitt created over 1200 wall drawings. He wrote very precise instructions for some of them so that others could recreate them. The wall drawings at this exhibition will be recreated by students of HKU Fine Art, Photography, Illustration and Graphic Design. They will only be on display temporarily; after the expo the walls will be painted over.

Students of HKU Music & Technology are developing a soundscape to accompany this remarkable expo. This soundscape will enable people with a visual impairment to still experience the work of Sol LeWitt.

The expo is on display from 30 October 2023 to 31 March 2024 in Joods Museum Amsterdam.
