Do We Care?

Care

The word care can have different meanings: to take care of something, in practice, or to care about, as a feeling of affection. Care can arise from sympathy, but care can also be a survival strategy, a political instrument or a method of working. And culture is a type of care as well: together we take care to preserve our books, films and works of art. Perhaps art might be the ultimate form of care, because art is what remains long after we die, and remains (hopefully) in the care of the generations after us.

Do We Care?

Do We Care? shows stories across three themes – taking care, bodily care and healthcare –that question our caring society and show how creators can come to new images and expressions. These creators hold up a mirror to us and our current times with films, fashion, installations, urging us to think: Do We Care?

Museum de Fundatie

Do We Care? is the third exhibition organised in partnership between HKU and Museum De Fundatie. Earlier projects were Van wie is de wereld? (‘Who owns the world?’ - 2021) and Nature Talks – art & design where humans were not at the centre (2022). Like these former projects, Do We Care? is part of the Fundatie Future Factory: the museum’s laboratory in which multidisciplinary creators search out together to find the heartbeat of our times and show the themes that will determine our future.

More information about Do We Care? and Museum de Fundatie is available on their (Dutch) website.
