From prop to set piece: the world of Sjaan & Pleun

Meet the world of Sjaan Hofstede and Pleun Verhees! Together they form the designer duo called ‘Omroep Sjeun’, building whole worlds on the theatre stage – from costumes to decorum and props.
Sjaan and Pleun met each other when they were both studying Theatre Design at HKU Theatre. Ever since, they’ve been working together in multiple productions. In this video, you can see them during their work for a performance called Ôskwanteklip, featuring the actors and HKU alumni Max Laros and Rosita Segers. The performance will premiere next month at Festival Tweetakt.

“The nicest thing about our work is that we can create a whole new world each time again. We go and look for materials, combine all sorts of things, and turn them into something new. Since we design both costumes and props, we can truly shape the entire world of a production."
