More than half of all HKU programmes is rated Top Programme

More than half of the study programmes at HKU has been rated Top Programme – just like last year – by the Keuzegids HBO: the national study choice guide that compares all bachelor programmes in the Netherlands.

More than half of all HKU programmes is rated Top Programme

All the teacher’s programmes of HKU maintain their status as Top Programmes in the Keuzegids 2027: Theatre, Music and Fine Art. And just like last year, the bachelor Theatre, bachelor Music and bachelor Autonomous Fine Art are again Top Programmes. Among those, the Bachelor Theatre had the highest increase in rating. Scores have also increased for the Bachelor Autonomous Fine Art and Fine Art and Design in Education.

Atmosphere and teachers score well

The five themes on which the Keuzegids bases its scores are: contents, teachers, assessment, career prospects and atmosphere. HKU programmes generally score best for ‘atmosphere at the academy’ as well as ‘teachers’. Preparation for career remains a point of attention. HKU is working on its improvement by making entrepreneurship a structural aspect of its curriculum.

Graduation pathways

the Keuzegids offers an evaluation of the programme as whole. Within one programme, however, there can be multiple graduation paths, of which some can rank relatively higher or lower. The graduation paths below fall under the programmes that have been rated as Top.

Among the Bachelor of Music, there are the graduation paths: Composition and Music Production (MT), Composition Electronic Music (MT), Composition for the Media (MT), Music Design for Games and Interaction (MT), Musician 3.0 (UC), Jazz & Pop (UC), Classical Music (UC), Historical Performance Practice (UC).
Among the Bachelor Theatre there are the graduation paths: Acting (Theatre), Interactive Performance Design (Theatre), Theatre Design (Theatre), Writing for Performance (Theatre). Furthermore, there are the Bachelor Fine Art and Design in Education fulltime/parttime (FA), Bachelor Autonomous Fine Art (FA), Bachelor Music in Education (UC), and the Bachelor Theatre in Education (Theatre).
