Roshwita Bacha, better known as Roselilah, initially didn’t realise she had won the most prestigious American music award. “It was completely crazy,” the 29-year-old artist told ANP.

One year earlier, the Utrecht-based producer also managed to convert a nomination into a win — making history as the first Dutch female producer to receive a Grammy – for her work on the production of Family Ties.

Roselilah has been producing her own beats since the age of twelve. While her early work was rooted in club music, her style later evolved towards trap and hip-hop. Over recent years she has collaborated with artists such as Adje, Sevn Alias, Cho, Jayh, Hef and Sor.

Beats sent to Kendrick

In an interview with NOS, Roselilah said: "I got in touch whith Kendrick's cousin, rapper Baby Keem. He regularly asked me for beats." One of the beats she sent to Baby Keem, was also heard by Lamar, who was so impressed by the drum productions that he wanted to use them for his track Luther.
