Curfew: physical education stops at 7 PM

Starting Saturday 23 January, a curfew will be in effect throughout the Netherlands from 9 pm. That is why all physical education and self-study opportunities at HKU will stop at 7 pm at the latest. Our buildings will close fifteen minutes after that. The curfew lasts until 4:30 am and is valid until at least 3 March. All planned day activities at HKU can continue.

The Nieuwekade location will be completely closed for educational activities until 1 February. After that, the opening hours are from 9 am to 5 pm.

Practical education
At the start of the new semester (on 1 February), there will be some more space for practical education during the day. The options can differ considerably per study, which is why lecturers and students will be informed by their school whether and when they can come to HKU. Staff members who are not essential for the support of physical educational activities, will continue to work from home.

Within the rules that the government sets for us, we do our utmost to make education possible. Although most of it will remain online, the government makes a nationwide exception for practical classes. We implement this in the best possible way to ensure that the quality of our education and study progress are compromised as little as possible. We also think it is very important that we can continue to meet each other physically within all applicable restrictions.

At the locations and during the lessons, we comply with the regulations and hygiene rules such as 1.5 meters distance, wearing a face mask and washing hands regularly. Our locations are also open for self-study and individual work in the workspaces, -shops and studios during the day. In addition, planned tests, examinations and inspections continue as usual during day hours.

Of course we closely follow the latest developments regarding corona. If there are new government measures that directly affect our education, we will let you know as soon as possible.
