Unique opportunity
The Comenius programme, granted by the Netherlands lnitiative for Educational Research (NRO), serves to contribute to innovation and improvement of higher education in the Netherlands. NRO offers three different grants that enable educational professionals to put their ideas for educational innovation into practice. Only two Leadership grants are allocated each year in higher-vocational (HBO) education, after an intensive and very competitive selection process. And now, HKU is granted one of them. Both for HKU and for Fabiola, the allocation is a unique and golden opportunity to strengthen research within the arts sector.FRAME
The funds make it possible to make fundamental improvements in the professionalisation of artistic research. The specific project that will be financed with the fund is FRAME: Framework for Research Methods and Skills in Arts Education, that will commence after the summer of 2025 and will last for 42 months. FRAME is aimed to meet the urgent demand for stronger research competencies among students at art academies.Fabiola: “There is a great need for developing the research skills among students, so that they can stand up to the complex social challenges. FRAME is going to develop, in co-creation with the education at HKU a framework for the (further) development, teaching, and evaluation, of research methods and research skills. This framework will be further developed and detailed within HKU In Education programmes (e.g. teacher’s training programmes) and subsequently translated into a training for the teachers at all the HKU schools, so that HKU teachers are even more capable of training and coaching students to become high-skilled researchers.”
