For the project Oracles III, Folkert de Jong invited students to explore how art can contribute to greater ecological awareness. Driven by a fascination with plant-based materials, they investigated how artistic practice can foster new connections with the natural world. By taking the properties of these materials as a starting point, the works that emerged not only reveal what is already present, but also invite reflection on our relationship with nature, resources, and the future.
Oracles III showcases the outcomes of this collaborative research process. The participating students explore themes such as materiality, imagination, and ecological interconnectedness. The result is a diverse exhibition in which art functions as a possible guide—or “oracle”—for new ways of seeing, sensing, and acting.
