Keti Koti

  • 30/06
In honour of Keti Koti, which means ‘broken chains’ in Surinamese, we organise a (Dutch) programme about the history of slavery. The Nationale Theater and Internationaal Theater Amsterdam have joined forces and developed lecture performances based on Keti Koti. A lecture performance is a combination of a theatre play and a workshop for the purpose of knowledge transfer, personal narratives and collective research. ‘What sort of ancestor do you want to be? And what knowledge from the past do you need for this? Can we today merge perspectives to build a bridge that is strong enough to get us all across together?’

The lecture performances at HKU Theatre will be presented by performers Ayşe Nur Salli, Jesse Molenaar, HKU alumnus and Theatre teacher Robin Tinkhof (11:15 – 13:00), Junadry Leocaria, Sandro Lima & Robby Hoesenie (13:30 – 15:15).

The Keti Koti programme takes place at Janskerkhof 17/18 (next to Café Hofman). You can subscribe for the time slots from 10:15-13:00 or 13:00-15:15!
