Betweter Festival is for anyone who longs to understand how the world works, does not shy away from new experiments and is willing to be amazed. Most of the festival is in Dutch, but there is an extensive programme of English-language presentations as well. And among the programme, there are twelve recent graduates of HKU who are eager to show you their perspective on the world. Three films made by HKU alumni are also screened. (The Dutch films by Michael Hauwert, Yara van Ee, and Nina Fock).
Language no problem
Some lectures and seminars will be in English, and there are multiple ‘language no problem’ artworks and experiences. One example of the latter is the award-winning virtual reality experience Soulpaint, made by HKU alumni Monobanda and Hatsumi. You draw your emotions on a 3D body and set them in motion through your own dance. Media scholar Lucie Chateau tells you all about memes and their role in society, and social scientist Floor Bontje puts you on a bicycle to test your cycling skills.
The full list of activities available for non-Dutch speakers is listed on the Betweter website.
