Centraal Laat ‣ FAAM x HKU

Three groups of students have drawn inspiration from the work of Gerard van Honthorst and will present their creations during Centraal Laat. Through three distinct works, they invite audiences to experience their perspectives on the exhibition:

Lumina
Light, darkness, sound, humanity. Everything dances together, inseparable from one another, yet people will always hold the reins when it comes to choosing what they wish to experience.

Makers: Jim Walsemann (Interactive performance design), Dylan Karwan (Interactive performance design), Laurén Pauw and Wiebe Vos (Music & Technology)

@itsbest
“"I remember the walls being rather pale, and so was the collection. Come to think of it, the entire space was white. There was so much white around me."

— a visitor, reflecting on the new exhibition @itsbest
This time, ‘the artist’ has chosen to present everything as white on white. Even at a later stage in life, the work has rarely appeared so contemporary. @itsbest presents an oeuvre whose remarkable emptiness causes it to almost disappear entirely.

Makers: Donji Angaji (Theatre Education, exhange programme), Alma Plompen (Music & Technology) and Joshua Clarke (Writing for performance).

In nothing like Shakespeare
In this interactive installation, Jip van Alem and Marit Koops explore the question: What does it mean to be a woman created by a man in the seventeenth century? By bringing together painting and theatre, they search for contemporary answers, perhaps offering Shakespeare’s female characters a new existence.

Makers: Jip van Alem (Theatre Design) and Marit Koops (Writing for Performance)

The works can be experienced during Centraal Laat on Thursday 18 June, from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm, at the Centraal Museum.

Centraal Museum, Agnietenstraat 1, Utrecht. Admission: € 8,00 / € 11,00. Reservations can be made via the website of Centraal Museum.

With special thanks to: Centraal Museum Utrecht, FAAM Utrecht and HKU Theatre.
