AG Ever After

With the exhibition AG Ever After, AG celebrates its thirtieth anniversary. In 1996, following a major repurposing of two classrooms, HKU opened its own exhibition space in the heart of Utrecht, initially under the name Academiegalerie. This gave students the opportunity to experience, already while they were still studying, what it is like to present their work to the public. For many of them, AG was the place where they held their first real exhibition. The space also enabled HKU to invite alumni to present their work and to collaborate with other arts institutions in the city. Over the years, AG developed into a unique platform for young makers, as well as, with some regularity, more established artists and designers.

To date, no less than 284 exhibitions and other public events have taken place at Minrebroederstraat. We are celebrating this milestone with an exhibition featuring work by alumni from six different HKU study programmes. It is impossible to make a representative selection that spans such a long period and such a diverse programme involving thousands of makers. The AG programme committee, consisting of representatives from HKU Fine Art, HKU Media and HKU Design, therefore opted for a celebratory diversity of work. For AG Ever After, the committee selected thirteen artists who have built distinctive and successful practices since graduating. Featuring work by:
