The MA CDDC Music Production addresses the way in which musical material is transformed from one (production) situation to the other and the role of music technology in these transformations; from demo tape to music DVD, from studio recording to live performance.
To make research and development possible there is a long-term co-operation with performers, educational institutes, music production companies, sound designers and sound studios.
During your projects you will work together with these professionals and organisations. You will learn to function in a multi-disciplinary environment and to make the right decisions in complex and stressful situations.
In the MA CDDC Music Production the focus is on research and development of production processes for music and sound, using “state-of-the-art” production technology, in close collaboration with professional ensembles of very different kind.
An important issue in the research & development of these new models will be transformation (and its possible consequences) between a variety of situations. For example; what happens if a model for ‘producing techno music in the studio’ is transformed to ‘performing improvised electronic music on the stage’?
Another important point of emphasis in this programme is the research and development of educational material for sound and music production. The aim a.o. is to develop a digital and interactive environment for education in sound & music production. Subjects addressed could typically include signal processing and mixing. Research will be done on the representation of data (amongst others the transformation of aesthetic criteria into digital parameters), the interfacing and the didactic design of the environment.
