SSH Utrecht

SSH, a student housing organisation offering short stay student accommodation in Utrecht, provides housing for HKU students who are here for a short period. There are several student housing buildings with furnished rooms in Utrecht for exchange students.

How to apply

To apply for housing via the SSH, the procedure is as follows:

1. First you register with SSH as a guest of HKU University of the Arts Utrecht and follow the instructions on their website. Students starting their exchange period in the second semester can register as of 15 November 2023 at 10:00 AM. Exchange students need to register before the approval date: 29 November 2023 at 10:00 AM (Central European Time – CET). Please note: there is a limited number of rooms available!

2. SSH will contact us to ensure that you are studying at HKU University of the Arts Utrecht. You will receive an e-mail notifying when your application is approved. After notification of approval, you can start looking for accommodation.

3. You can make your reservation from 29 November 2023 at 10:00 AM (Central European Time – CET). You will pay the reservation fee, first and last month rent during the booking. The reservation fee is € 90,00. The additional cleaning costs are calculated based on the size of your room and the duration of your stay. The payment must be paid by Visa or MasterCard within 24 hours after making the online reservation. If you did not manage to finish the payment within 24 hours, the reservation will be automatically cancelled.

4. After the booking has been completed, SSH will send you a confirmation by e-mail. Please note that when you have booked the room, it is considered a binding agreement that cannot be cancelled. You will receive the rental contract during the reservation process.

In order to apply for accommodation as a student of HKU University of the Arts Utrecht, you need to agree with the conditions of intermediary services as stated on the SSH website. Please read these conditions very carefully so you understand what the conditions are before you agree.

HKU Service Desk Student Affairs only plays a role in the first contact between SSH Utrecht and you. All information about your housing application will be between you and SSH Utrecht, Short Stay department directly.
