Reviving Value: HKU students explore recycling at City Hall expo

HKU students Carolien R. Weerstand (Graphic Design), Linde van der Burgh (Illustration) and Berber Struiksma (Fashion Design) put their works on display at Utrecht City Hall until 22 February. Their creations are about the essential goods in daily life: clothing, books, and food.

We have them in abundance, but what happens when they need to get a second life? Recycling seems to be the magic word today, but what if some materials still lack a proper solution to do this? Can we use books as building materials? What is the value of suboptimal quality fruits in the supermarket? And how can fashion benefit from recycled materials, video projects, criticism and humour?

The visual answers to the questions can now be seen in the exhibition Reviving Value. The three Utrecht artists entice the visitors to think differently about the role the arts can play in the large societal challenge of today.

Monday – Friday: 8:30 – 17:00
