Workshop: Live coding and algorithmic composition

Workshop: Live coding and algorithmic composition

Are you a composer or musician and have you always been curious about algorithmic composition and digital music tools? During the Gaudeamus Muziekweek, an online workshop will introduce you to the live coding environment Mercury, an easy to read and apply programming language that has been specially developed for live composition and performance of electronic music.

You will learn to program different rhythms, play sound clips and compose melodies according to compositional techniques such as serialism, generative algorithms, probability calculations and more! The workshop is given by alumnus and teacher Timo Hoogland (HKU Music and Technology) in TivoliVredenburgen and can be followed free of charge as a live stream. You can make a donation according to the pay-as-you-like principle.
