Come and see students of HKU Design present their projects at Ventura Lambrate.
Meaningful encounters at Ventura Lambrate 2016
At Ventura Lambrate, part of Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2016, HKU Design invites you to meet us and talk about educational environments that foster creative processes. To set an example, we’re taking our environment to you from our base camp at Via Ventura 14.
Our students will set out on an expedition to have meaningful encounters with fellow designers, the audience and random passers-by. We present fresh takes on enduring topics like circular economies, the creation of sustainable spaces and materials and show how a platform with artwork and stories by refugees may help give a voice to the voiceless.
The results of these encounters will be discussed back at base camp and help us find new ways of seeing things and discover new subject areas to present to visitors.
Embracing personal development
increasingly looks to designers as harbingers of awareness, behavioural change
and innovation. Technologies change and domains that were once separate now increasingly
meet. As a result, societal issues demand creative, applicable solutions. These solutions
need to transcend the traditional boundaries between disciplines in order to
have a lasting impact on daily life.
That is why students of HKU Design work in dynamic environments that compel them to constantly take on new roles and rethink the context in which they produce their work. This is what we call our education-through-designing.
and embrace the fact that the personal development of students is not something
we can minutely control. Instead we guide them on the path to meaningful
encounters. Through their education, our students will meet a plethora of
techniques, media, skills, procedures and traditions as part of their subject
area. We challenge them to position themselves amidst these elements and add
their own, distinctive voice to their field of work.
