ABiotic Factors - Graduation show 2017

Students have been working hard towards the 2017 graduation show 'ABiotic Factors'. The nature-culture of contemporary urban societies is the point of departure for this year’s show. It runs from June 24 to July 9 at  BAK, basis voor actuele kunst Utrecht. The curator is artist/teacher Marion von Osten. Read her introduction here.

Venice Biennial

In the last week of May, MA Fine Art students will be in Venice for the Biennial. What's more: our students will also be participating in the Research Pavilion alongside participants from Bergen Academy of Art and Design. The Research Pavilion is hosted by Uniarts Helsinki. This year's theme is 'The Utopia of Access' about the consequences for research in the artistic field.

To Seminar - Seminar as a verb

'To Seminar' is an exhibition at BAK Utrecht that inquires into the practices of learning about, with, and through art today. During March/April our students participated in a series of public gatherings, workshops, performances, talks, screenings, etc. in the course of this exhibition-as-seminar.

For the exhibition the students did a workshop with Dutch Artist Job Koelewijn in which they read and recorded books of their own choosing. They subsequently materialized the texts in artists' audiobooks.

With artist Inci Eviner they did the workshop 'Co-Action Device. I rather laugh', which built up to multi-disciplinary performance.

René Francisco, artist/activist from Cuba led the students in a workshop 'Art Works on Commission, Free'. In this workshop they made artworks commisioned by random inhabitants of Utrecht.
