Flutes in Wolfe's Clothing is a special project focused around the world premiere of a new work by Julia Wolfe for 12 flutes.
Julia Wolfe is one of the foremost composers from the United States at the moment. Pulitzer prize winner, MacArthur Fellow, you name it, she has won most of the most prestigious prizes in the United States. A founding member of the Band on a Can, she writes music which is strongly influenced by Rock and Minimalism.
Performed by the flute students of Aldo Baerten of the Utrecht Conservatory, with guests Ned McGowan, Anne LaBerge and Aaron flute trio, this premiere is one of 12 premieres all over the world at the same time.
Also on the program are works by Anne LaBerge, Ned McGowan, Jane Rigler and Silva.
