The Faculty of Art and Economics specialises in cultural management and is embedded in the creative environment of Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU). The HKU offers courses in the areas of autonomous visual art, design, music, theatre, media, games, interaction and art and economics. Besides bachelor courses in over 50 subjects, there are also foundation courses and masters courses.
As an Art and Economics student, you will work during your studies with students from these different courses. From the outset, therefore, you will learn the specific language, atmosphere and characteristics of the sector. You will also build up a network of future colleagues, which can be very useful after you have graduated.

Project offices
The Faculty of Art and Economics has a project office: Xchange Projects. This office gives you the opportunity to work for external clients within the study programme. This is an important way for students to gain intensive and hands-on experience of the professional field.
Concert hall, theatre and gallery
The HKU has its own concert hall: the J.M. Fentener van Vlissingen hall, its own theatre: the Academy Theatre, and its own exhibition space: the Academy Gallery. You will, of course, make use of these in your course, which allows you to gain practical experience in familiar surroundings.
Faculty of Art and Economics Media Library
Students of the Faculty of Art and Economics can make use of the books, magazines, videos, DVDs and theses in the media library. The media library has quiet work places for studying, with computers linked to the Internet. You can also go to the media libraries of the other faculties and you have access to the University Library with your student card and proof of registration.
Faculty of Art and Economics ICT workshop
In the ICT workshop, there are computers linked to the Internet, software and a printer. You can use these facilities free of charge, except for printing, which you can do at cost price. There are various workshops for large and small projects, where you can work with your team.
International
The faculty attaches great importance to its international network. It is therefore a member of various international cooperative ventures, such as ELIA, ENCATC and AAAE.
