The MA CDDC Music Technology addresses the technological means for composition, music production and musical systems in different contexts. Major areas of study are social applications of sound and music. Students are given the opportunity to take part in real-world industrial or artistic assignments while working in multi-disciplinary teams and to draw on our long-term co-operation with important artists and performers, educational and social organisations, music production companies, sound designers and sound studios.
One of the special focuses of this programme is designing for special needs applications. Some of the projects are performed in close collaboration with institutes like Bartiméus (Dutch Institute for the Blind and Visually Impaired) or in national or European research projects like the Mediate-project for children with autism (in co-operation with University of Portsmouth and the Universidad Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona).
Another focus in the MA CDDC Music Technology is on the research and design of systems and tools for composition, (interactive and/or multidisciplinary) performances and installations. In close cooperation with the MA CDDC Music Production and the MA CDDC Music Composition technological solutions have been found to provide designers and performers in various fields (music, modern dance, theatre etc.) with systems and tools to obtain their (musical) goals.
