On this page you'll find some examples of project works of the MA CDDC programme Music Composition.
The purpose of this research project is the development of algorithms for adaptive composition and sound design in games. The line of thought is that really adaptive music (based on algorithms) is still rarely used in games. Often systems are used where music modules that have been composed in advance are mixed in an adaptive manner. In an adaptive situation (as in games) there is a need for musical reactions to rapidly changing situations and here the traditional musical system poses many problems.
In close collaboration with the Faculty of Music students compose autonomous pieces for ensembles, live electronics and church acoustics. If necessary, technological experts are called in to create the ‘live electronics’. The project results in a public concert in the Nicolai Church, Utrecht.
