This programme addresses the composition of sound and music in different contexts along with an understanding of the processes which arise from these relationships.
In this programme the focus is on other, newer contexts asking for a more multidisciplinary, cross-media or cross-format approach.
Students on this programme will have the opportunity to draw on long term co-operations with artists and performers, concert halls for contemporary music, educational-, film- & animation organizations, the advertising and game-industry, museums and modern dance companies. You will develop the skills needed to adapt your compositional skills & processes to a wide variety of professional contexts.
Analysis & synthesis are keywords in this programme. An example is analysing the processes of composing and sound design for theater and transforming these for the context of computer games.
A second focus is the analysis of the qualities of collaboration between several composers and sound designers in a ‘network partnership’.
The projects offered by the institute, are very different in structure. Some projects are running part-time throughout the year; others have the character of a ‘pressure cooker’. The common factor is the demand for a finished product together with the underlying research and analysis & synthesis of production processes at a Master’s level.
