Bachelor of Music in Education trains you to be a music teacher with full authorisation to teach. This will enable you to teach in primary and secondary schools, intermediate professional education and higher education. You will also be trained to be a music education officer in organisations for art education and with ensembles, orchestras and venues.
Initially you will be trained to be a musician with a broad scope: from classical music to jazz and pop and non-western music. You will not only be a musician, but also a teacher. On this course, you will therefore be given a great deal of didactics and methodology, which you will need in education.
The Bachelor of Theatre in Education course trains you to be a drama teacher with full authorisation to teach. After graduation, you will be able to work in all areas of education, from primary schools right through to higher professional education. You will also be able to work in non-school art education, for example in art centres, youth theatre schools, community centres and amateur dramatics societies.
You learn to teach visual art and design. Your own visual development is a major precondition for this, just as important as your development as a teacher. You learn to teach various target groups in various situations, and to work with different methodologies and didactic work forms. You learn to work in 2D and 3D forms and with a wide range of materials and techniques. You learn the history of art and culture, as a basis for your own work and in order to be able to teach it.
The part-time course BEd Visual Art and Education trains you to be a teacher with full authorisation to teach visual subjects and design. This part-time course is intended for people with a bachelors degree in visual arts who wish to teach or who are already teaching, but don’t have official authorisation to teach. As a graduate of this course, you will be entitled to teach visual subjects, history of art and culture in schools and in non-school settings.
During this part-time course, you will learn to teach visual arts subjects and the history of art and culture. You will learn to convey to others the visual abilities you have already developed in yourself. This part-time course does not focus on the development of your visual abilities. It is assumed that you already have sufficient of these.
